False eyelashes have been around since the 1916 and were invented by silent film director D.W Griffith but didn't make a big impact until the 50's and 60's.
These luxurious lashes make your eyes look bigger and more youthful and add instant glamour to any look.
Most of us are not experienced make up artists and if you have never applied false eyelashes before then it could be a daunting task.
Here is our fool proof guide on how to apply false eyelashes perfectly.
Remove the false eyelashes from the packaging and hold them up against your eye to check the length. Most eyelashes are too long so will need cutting to fit.If they are too long they will make your eyes look droopy and not the desired effect.
Next for the glue , apply a dotted line of glue along the strip of the lashes and most importantly wait around 30 seconds until the glue becomes tacky , this allows for better application.
Using tweezers, hold the strip lash in the centre. Then place it in the centre of your natural lashes. Then, again using the tweezers, push the inner side of strip lash in place, followed by the outer side.
Using a 'pinching-and-push' technique with the tweezers to pinch together the strip lashes and your natural lashes, then 'push' them towards your eyelids. Do this all the way across the lashes and repeat for the other eye.
Some false lash brands do co e with lash glue but most are not very good , we would recommend using Ardell Lash Duo glue.
You may want to apply eyeliner to the base of your eyes where the eyelashes are applied to blend the whole look together and you can also apply mascara to your lashes but is not essential.
